Covered outdoor area, string lights, dog-friendly. Available day or night, weather permitting.
Three spaces, one kitchen
Royal Reels runs as a pub most nights of the week - but we have three spaces that flip into private-event mode for birthdays, engagements, corporate gatherings, and the occasional wake. Hire one, or hire the whole pub on a Sunday.
The Tap Room
Semi-private, off the main bar. Exposed brick, our original 1920s timber bar, and a long communal table that seats 22. Capacity: 20-35 seated, up to 50 cocktail. Minimum spend on Saturday nights: $1,800.
The Back Room
Our gig room on a non-event night. Stage, PA, full lighting rig, optional DJ booth. Capacity: 40-60 seated, up to 80 cocktail. Great for launches, engagements, and album releases. Minimum spend on Friday/Saturday: $3,500.
The Beer Garden
Covered outdoor area with string lights and three big planters. Dog-friendly, kid-friendly until 7pm. Capacity: 40 seated. Best for daytime events and casual long lunches.
What we offer
- Set menus from $55 per head, or tailored by our head chef.
- Beverage packages from $45 per head (2-hour standard) - beer, wine, soft. Spirits packages on request.
- AV included in the Back Room (PA, lighting, projector, mic).
- No corkage on bottles from our wine list at $5 per head.
- Dietary requirements handled - vegan, halal, GF, FODMAP on request.
What we don't do
- We don't run 18th or 21st birthdays. We love them, but they're not for our space.
- We don't host bucks or hens parties after 9pm.
- We don't do exclusive full-venue hire on Friday or Saturday nights during the year.
How to book
Send us an email at functions@royalreels.pub with:
- Date (and a backup date).
- Approximate headcount.
- What you're celebrating.
- Preferred space.
We'll come back with a quote within one business day. We hold tentative bookings for 7 days while we sort the details.
The boring but important bits
- RSA applies at every function. Our RSA marshals are present for the duration. See our responsible service policy.
- Damage deposit of $500 on the Back Room, refundable within 7 days post-event.
- Music must finish by 11pm Sunday-Thursday and midnight Friday-Saturday (Council condition).
- Cancellation more than 30 days out: full refund. 14-30 days: 50%. Less than 14 days: no refund, but we can transfer the date once.

How many guests can your function spaces hold?
Three rooms: Tap Room (20-35 seated, 50 cocktail), Back Room (40-60 seated, 80 cocktail), and Beer Garden (up to 40 seated). Maximum combined: about 120.
What's the cost to hire a private room?
There's a minimum spend rather than a hire fee. Saturday nights have the highest minimums (Tap Room from $1,800, Back Room from $3,500). Sunday-Thursday minimums are lower. Send us your date and headcount for a quote.
Can you cater for dietary requirements?
Yes. Our chef works with vegan, vegetarian, halal, gluten-free, FODMAP, and nut allergies daily. Tell us at booking and we'll build the set menu around your group's needs.
Can we bring our own decorations?
Yes, with a quick chat. No open flames, no glitter (sorry, it gets everywhere), no tape on the walls. We have vases, candles, and table styling available for hire.
Do you do bucks or hens nights?
We don't run bucks or hens after 9pm, but we're happy to host earlier in the evening. Talk to us.
What's the cancellation policy?
More than 30 days out: full refund. 14-30 days: 50% refund. Less than 14 days: no refund, but we can transfer your date once.
