This week

We're back from a long weekend and the calendar is full. Here's what's on at Royal Reels this week:

Thursday - Live: The Hollow Owls

Folk-rock four-piece from the Inner West. Two sets, no support, free entry. Doors at 7pm, first set at 8pm. The back room holds 60 - arrive early.

Friday - Trivia Night

Our regular Friday trivia is hosted by comedian Mel Soyer. Teams of up to six, $5 per person to enter, $50 bar tab to the winners. Bookings essential.

Saturday - Open Mic

Last Saturday of the month is open mic - comedy, poetry, music, anything that fits on a stage and within five minutes. Sign-up from 8pm, performances from 9pm. The bar stays open late.

3 July - Saltwater Sessions: coastal-folk trio, monthly residency. 10 July - Live: Velvet Elk, indie-folk from Marrickville. 17 July - Trivia: special 90s-music round. 24 July - Trivia + Open Mic double-header. 31 July - Live: The Sundown Set, acoustic duos.

• Thursdays - Live music (rotating local acts)
• Fridays - Trivia, 7:30pm
• Last Saturday - Open mic, 9pm
• Sundays - Long lunch, 12-4pm (no bookings taken)

We program about six months ahead. If you're a local band or solo act, send an EPK and a couple of links to music@royalreels.pub. We pay our acts and we pay them fairly.

Venue hire for external promoters

The back room holds up to 80 cocktail or 60 seated. If you're running a release, a label night, or a small tour, get in touch about one-off hire.

Most events are free. Where there's a cover, it's $10-20 on the door. 18+ unless advertised as all-ages.
