What this policy covers

This is the privacy policy for Royal Reels Pub ("we", "us", "our"). It explains how we collect, hold, use, and disclose your personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

By using our website, booking a table, signing up for our mailing list, or visiting our venue, you agree to the practices described here.

What we collect

From the website

• Booking requests: name, mobile, email (optional), date, time, headcount, and any notes you include.
• Mailing list: email address and (optionally) first name.
• Analytics: anonymised page views via a privacy-respecting analytics tool. We do not use Google Analytics.

From the venue

• CCTV operates at the front entry, the bar, and the beer garden for security and incident review. Footage is held for 30 days and then overwritten unless required to be retained for a lawful purpose.
• ID checks: we may photocopy or scan photo ID when required by NSW liquor law (e.g., suspected under-18). We do not retain these copies.
• Incident reports: if something happens, we keep a written record. Names are included only where required for safety or legal reasons.

What we do not collect

• We do not collect payment details through this website. Online booking is a request, not a transaction - we confirm by phone.
• We do not collect sensitive information (health, biometrics, political views, etc.) through any of our channels.
• We do not sell or rent your data to anyone, ever.

How we use your information

How long we keep it

• Booking requests: 12 months after the booking date.
• Mailing list: until you unsubscribe.
• CCTV footage: 30 days, unless required for an incident.
• Incident reports: 7 years (insurance and legal requirement).
• Financial records: 5 years (ATO requirement).

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your data. We share it only with:

• Mailchimp (or successor), for our mailing list - see their privacy policy.
• A payment processor if and when we add online payments - we'll name them at the time.
• Government agencies if legally required (e.g., Liquor & Gaming NSW, NSW Police, ATO).
• A successor business, if Royal Reels is ever sold or transferred - you'd be notified in advance.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act, you can:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you (an "access request").
• Ask us to correct anything wrong.
• Ask us to delete your data, subject to our legal retention obligations.
• Opt out of marketing at any time - every email has an unsubscribe link.

Cookies

Our website uses a small number of essential cookies (session age-gate, language preference). We do not use third-party tracking cookies. You can block cookies in your browser without affecting how the site works.

Cross-border data

Our mailing-list provider (Mailchimp) stores data in the United States. By subscribing, you consent to this transfer. We rely on Mailchimp's APEC Cross-Border Privacy Rules certification.

If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, please contact us first at privacy@royalreels.pub. If we can't resolve it, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
